PRESBYTERY PRAYER Second Street Presbyterian, Albemarle; Pastor John Black
SCHOOL SUPPLIES School has started! We are continuing to collect school supplies for needy children. You can bring supplies and put them in the designated box. We will give these to Laura Kerr, Principal of Rockwell Elementary, for her to distribute at the school as needed. Help a child get off to a great start!
THANK YOU “Thank you so much for your help and donations for the book bag give-away. More than 300 book bags, filled with school supplies, were given away; over 700 hotdog lunches were provided and over 50 free haircuts were given to children, ages K-5, and teenagers in Stanly and surrounding counties.”
Thank you, in the name of Jesus Christ,
Church Ignited
“Second Street Presbyterian Church, Your thoughtfulness at this time has been so encouraging to us. Thank you so much for your prayers and gifts. God is blessing us and He has His hand on us, we can feel his presence every day through the love of His people, such as you. God Bless you all and thank you very much.” Love in Christ, The Heathcocks (Ruthie & Steve)
STUDENT/TEACHER PRAYER CARDS We are asking for Prayer Warriors for all of our students and teachers for the 2010/2011 school year. If you will pray each day for a student or a teacher, please take a prayer card listing the name of a student or teacher after the service today. Please contact your student or teacher to let them know you will be praying for them. We ask that you stay in touch with them to provide encouragement and to ask for any special prayer needs they may have throughout the school year.
70TH ANNIVERSARY Our Church will celebrate its Seventy-Year Anniversary (1940 – 2010) on Sunday, Sept. 19th. We will have a covered dish after the worship service on that day.
SYMPATHY We extend our sympathy to Whit Saunders and his family. Whit’s Dad, Richard Saunders, passed away this week. Please remember Whit and his family in prayer during their bereavement.
CLOTHING CLOSET Our Clothing Closet will be open Friday, September 3rd and again on Friday, September 17th, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. due to the overwhelming response we had last week. (There were approximately 75 people during the first hour of last week's Clothing Closet!)
We are now accepting winter clothing and coats for men/women/children and infants – all sizes and household items that are in good, re-usable condition
Two volunteers to help on September 3rd from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. to help greet people and to keep the Clothing Closet neat and tidy during the hours of operation. Please prayerfully consider helping on September 3rd and speak with Kathy Stone or Debbie Mullis to let them know if you can help.
ANNIVERSARY Friday, Sept. 3: Jerry & Judy Hager
