And the City Lights Fade...

Posted by: Jerry Zunino in Untagged  on

We arrived in Denver Friday afternoon to walk the streets of downtown and worship with its people. Denver was a much cleaner and and safer environment than any of the other cities we had been to, however, there were some people there who definitely did not have the right intentions when they approached us. after a few hours of playing on street corners and praying with people we met up with my cousin who I hadn't seen in over 10 years. i was so glad to see them again and how much they have changed. Yesterday was a loooong day of driving through the Rockies from Denver To Las Vegas; the scenery was breathtaking. As soon as we arrived we visited with our host family from the local PCA church and hit the streets of Las Vegas. It was really cool to see that we were not alone, there were other Followers just like us minister and spreading the word of God. It was very encouraging to see. We had many opportunities to share the Gospel. The amount of sexual sin and indulgence that is openly advertised in this city is utterly incomprehensible when we relate it to what we've seen. It really opened our eyes to how broken the world really is. We left the city inspired to reach out a little more aggressively and a little less ignorant of what kind of demons people fight within themselves. its was a quite ride home as the city lights faded in the distance...

Adventures in the Mid-west

So these last two days have been pretty epic. When we left Memphis we left with fond memories and new friends. When we left we also took the scenic route to Branson, Oh, what a scenic route. It was and 8hr scenic route on a 4 hour drive, yea, needless to say we were a little late. Upon arrival we were greeted by Robbie's Grandpa, Grandma, and their feisty pitbull. Their house... IS AWESOME!!! That's all I have to say about that; there's a movie theater in their house that sits on the lake! its so awesome ...ok .....thats all. So we took today as our day of rest and went on a boat ride and did a little bible study out on the lake. Its been such an awesome two days and we're refreshed and ready for some more ministry! Earlier tonight we had the chance to sing and share at Skyline Baptist Church, it was truly a blessing to receive their prayers and support. Tomorrow we're off to see the Schmiege's in Junction City, Kansas to do yard work and minister to some shut-ins special needs people the elderly and who ever else God may put in our way. :)

So tonight we worshiped with Robbie's family which was an awesome experience. Meeting his family has been real a blessing. Later that day we went to the sketchiest parts of down town Memphis and ministered to a man named Carlos. Its was truly a new sensation experiencing the gritty world that I was too used to. I mean I've seen some stuff in my day but the paranoia and uneasiness these people experience is heartbreaking. we shouldn't have to live in this fear. Welp, tomorrow we're off to Branson, MO at about 6 am.

On the Road again...

I just finished up driving my half to memphis, Robbie has taken the wheel. it hasnt been 10 mins and we've already almost died, thanks Robbie. It's beginning to rain, nothing to heavy. just sprinkling so far. We justleft a cicl warbattle field tour info centr and had a very interesting tour by Jolly the local historian. We have about 2 and a half hours before we get to Memphis Till then we$ll be on the road again.

But we're late for a house painting later

Epic Day #1

The night's winiding down and we're surfing our first couches, or in my case floor. The sun has set on us in Nashville TN. We were able to help with yard work of our host family and the neighbors who let us borrow their lawn mowers. Its these little ways that God allows us to show his Love and minister to people. Robbie was a few shades of green after mowing after we for a couple hours straight; it takes me back. Tomprrow we're going to worship with Priest Lake Christian Fellowship Church, which is definetly a recipe for good times. Here's a word that was inspired while I was lawn mowing: what is it you think about when you hear the words handy-work, craftsmanship; workmanship? When I think about these words I think about something that some one has made and takes pride and that is passionate about. In Ephesians 2:10 God calls us His workmanship! Isnt it such an amazing thing to know that the God of the universe is passionate about YOU and proud to call yo son; call you child.

The Night Before

Then Night before our trip is here an reality hasn't quite set in yet. It doesn't feel like we're going on a "life-changing" trip tomorrow. It's like my brain is telling me to be nervous but, my heart is at ease. It's becoming more and more apparent that God is truly in control of this trip. I'm ready to see what He does. This trip couldn't have been possible with all you who have supported us with your love and prayers; we're so thankful. You are just as much a part of this trip as we are. We hope to come back with some awesome stories of us sharing the Gospel and Praising His name to those who have yet to hear it.
